iStory is a pilot project that empowers people with disabilities in Vietnam to tell their own story using social media. Equipped with only an iPod, participants tell their story through updates, pictures, and videos.

Ever wonder what it's like to commute to school in Vietnam in a wheelchair? How is it possible for a person without arms or legs to lead a swim team? What compels a priest to look after 30 orphans, when he is barely getting by?

Listen to their story and pass it forward. For every view, a VNHELP will donate to their cause.

The Selection

drd

Early this summer, OneVietnam and DRD teamed up for a gruesome two months search for iStory's 7 amazing participants. We started with 30 applicants, visited their homes, and conducted mulitiple rounds of interviews to make the final selections. From originally 40 applicants, iStory's 9 Champions also had a competitive race to join the impressive team of volunteers.

The Training

drd

With help from DRD and Skunkworks, the OneVietnam team landed in Sai Gon on July 26 to conduct an intensive training week for iStory participants and Champions. Training ranged from social media mechanics to the art of story telling and picture and video captures.

The Launch

drd

iStory participants and their partner Champions have been working side by side in the last month in Vietnam. Their mission is to prepare 7 stories that shed light on the realities of people with disabilities in Vietnam. It's been truly a global effort by iStory participants, champions and partners in Vietnam and OneVietnam staff in San Francisco.

Lights, Camera, Action!
